"PGLA Absorbable Suture
Poly(glycolide (90%) – co – lactide (10%))
ALCALACTINE® sutures are multifilament surgical sutures that consist of a copolymer that is synthesized from 90% Polyglycolic Acid and 10% L-Lactic Acid and are synthetic, absorbable and sterile. The knitted sutures are coated with a coating agent. The coating agent of the coated sutures consists of a mixture of Calcium Stearate, Polyglycolic Acid (30%) – L-Lactic Acid (70).
The ALCALACTINE® sutures are absorbed by the organism when implanted into a living organism and they do not cause excessive tissue irritation. The ALCALACTINE® sutures are not antigens or pyrogens, only a mild tissue reaction occurs during absorption.
The ALCALACTINE® sutures meet all of the requirements that have been defined for absorbable synthetic sutures in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) – except for slightly exceeding the diameter limits at some measurements.
The ALCALACTINE® sutures are purple, painted with the FDA-approved D&C purple No: 2 to facilitate operations. The ALCALACTINE® sutures are made with or without stainless steel needles at various lengths between 10 cm to 150 cm between the range of USP 6/0 – USP 2.
The ALCALACTINE® sutures are made with or without stainless steel needles at various lengths between 10 cm to 150 cm between the range of USP 6/0 – USP 2 (metric 0.7-5) as sterile, knitted and purple in color.
The sutures come in packs of one, two and three dozens."
